Trolling Along! - Candy Land Kit

Trolling Along! - Candy Land Kit

“Hair up! Put your hair in the air!” Who else loves the Trolls movie? We can’t seem to get enough of it in our house. So it comes as no surprise I thought “Troll hair” when I got my hands on the Candy Land Shaker Kit. With my daughter in mind, I created a Trolls trio of cards.
CARD 1: POPPY-UP BIRTHDAY
If you know Trolls, you know the lead troll, Poppy, is a fan of the poppy cards and scrapbooks. Inspired by her signature pop-up approach to crafting I made a card that is one part Troll hair…
…and one part pop-up. Now, if only I could figure out how to make the card shower glitter upon opening.
To create Poppy’s hair, I freehand cut pink paper from the kit and layered the “cotton” for some texture.
PRO TIP: I watched some YouTube videos from an artist at DreamWorks. She mentioned using hairspray as an adhesive to help control the fuzz. I tried it on my card and it worked like a charm! Queen & Co.’s Sheer Glue also works wonders. I LOVE that stuff!
For the headband, I die cut a piece of candy using the candy die and then separated it into the various parts needed.
CARD 2: SLAP IT, BOSS!
Cloud Guy makes us giggle every time we watch the show. He seems just the character to send some smiles across the miles. (A little slappy? Make Daddy happy? LOL)
I used the Rainbow Die to cut the cloud and create my rainbow card front, piecing patterns from the Candy Land kit beneath the card front. I hand-cut the cloud’s arms and made his eyes from the candy in the shaker kit.
CARD 3: HUG TIME
The Trolls movie cover inspired this one. Maggie, my five-year-old, recently experienced some sadness with deaths in our family. It made me think that there isn’t a real resource for sympathy cards for young kids. “Hug Time” came to mind. After all, any time is a good time for a warm embrace, right?

I love the versatility of this kit! Some see cotton candy while others see Troll hair. LOL Either way, this fluff stuff is too cute. It gives my creativity a boost, being different from the usual crafting supply. Have fun making your own hair-raising design!
Cheers!
